Downhill is a specially prepared track, which passes through the natural slope and includes a series of turnings and springboards. Corridor of the route is marked on both sides with bright lines on the snow or a small triangular flags. To maintain a stable snow cover, artificial snow cover is used, the snow is rammed with ratrak.In this way skiing tracks are prepared for skiing on downhill skiing and snowboards.

There are different levels of complexity of ski slopes, which have their own symbols, which vary depending on the countries. Difficulty levels can be indicated by different colors (green, blue, red, black, etc.), figures, symbols and signs.
