Teal

Teal (anas crecca). The natural habitat of a teal borrows the biggest part of territory of Eurasia. It is the smallest duck in Eurasia. Within the limits of the natural habitat the teal is more numerous in wood and forest-steppe zones as prefers the small reservoirs located in a wood or near to it. On the open reservoirs with extensive meadow it meets seldom. In Belarus gravitates to small wood lakes at presence on them of a shallow zone, and also to beaver ponds. On fish-breeding ponds and greater lakes it borrows small stretches near wood coast. On small wood bogs and other small reservoirs the teal is often the unique representative of duck. The teals, nesting in Belarus, winter in Western Europe. It is interesting that on wintering these birds keep flock with constant structure of birds, possibly generated in places of nesting. The teal is a good object of hunting and owing to its large number in a wood zone it has great importance in the hunting facilities. In Belarus the teal comes in the hunting game bag not too often because of a small amount of shallow wood reservoirs.
