Forest polecat

Forest polecat (mustela putorius). It is widespread on all territory of Belarus and is a usual, native kind of fauna. In conditions of our country the places of dwelling of forest polecat are meadows of rivers, lakes and sites of territory adjoining to them; islands among bogs, especially if there is a group of lakes nearby; growing glades and burnt-out with a lot of the wood rests; groups of small sites of forest among fields; groups of clearings among the forest. Often forest polecat settles near the people: on farmsteads, in villages, on suburbs of cities. The main cause of the disappearance of this kind of animal is the fact that forest polecat becomes the victim of human activity.
