Fox ordinary

Fox ordinary (vulpes vulpes) This animal in Belarus is widespread on all territory and is a usual kind of fauna. The population of fox differs from year to year. It is explained by many reasons among which  are fluctuation of the number of rodents - their basic forage, and also weather conditions, especially winter. In Belarus the aggregate number of the fox makes approximately 35 - 45 thousands of individuals. Habitats of such plastic kind as the fox, are various. It lives both in various large forests, and among rural landscape, including suburbs of human settlements. The fox prefers places where often alternate biotopes favorable on fodder conditions: meadows, fields, reservoirs, bogs, sites of the wood, thricket of the bush. It avoids only extensive strongly boggy territories. Rarely it can be met among similar large forests, but it willingly occupies their suburbs. The main factor of death of the fox is the extraction of this kind of animal by man because of its valuable skin. Sometimes, especially at high number of the animal, there can be a mass infection of itch of foxes, a plague carnivorous, furiousness and other illnesses. As a result, their number can decrease considerably.
