Mink American

Mink American (mustela vison). It is acclimatized in Belarus since 1954 and by present time it is widespread almost on all territory of the country. Its population consists now in 19,7 thousands of individuals. The American mink lives at reservoirs. Its preferred reservoirs are swift-flowing, rather deep rivers with low, abrupt coast, overgrown with arboreal and scrubland vegetation. Usually they are however densely populated by the otter who often supersedes the American mink as physically weaker and worse adapted to semi aquatic way of life. Most densely the American mink can occupy slow-flowing rivers with strongly irrigated meadow that is overgrown with forest and bush.
