v (Cottus gobio) — fresh-water fish of family rogatkovy, at which low, going down to a tail, absolutely naked body. In the middle of a side there passes well noticeable long lateral line. The head very big, wide and flattened, with a small thick-lipped mouth. Coloring at the ordinary miller's-thumb very modest — grayish or light-brown, brown or greenish, with dark stains. Numerous dark strips and specks.
In Belarus meets in all rivers, mainly in upper courses of small small rivers and in streams a rapid current and a stony bottom. Everywhere it is small. Live in isolation, keep always under stones, curtains of ground algas, snags, congestions of wood stuff, adhere to their edge adjoining to a current.
