Grey heron

Grey heron (ardea cinerea). It is widely widespread in a temperate climate of Europe and Asia, and also in some regions of Africa. In regions with water freezing in winter this bird conducts a flying way of life. The grey heron lives along various water sources: bogs, rivers and streams, lakes, fish-breeding ponds, sometimes appearing in the urbanized territories. Current of water can differ, but an obligatory condition is the presence of shallow water. For nesting it prefers old forest stands near greater reservoirs, coastal bushes or thickets of canes (on the ground), overgrown wood vegetation islands. For Belarus it is a usual flying kind of bird, the transit migrant which occasionally remains on wintering.
