Rest in Belarus

Shoveler

Shoveler (anas clypeata) is the representative of steppe and forest-steppe zones in which it is numerous enough. In Belarus which completely enters into a wood zone, it meets seldom. On wintering shoveler goes to the coasts of the Mediterranean and Caspian seas, to Central Asia, to British isles. Shoveler broods in opened meadows of the flat rivers, on large shallow lakes. Last years shoveler becomes a usual kind on ponds of fishing household. With the appearance in a zone of Polesye of some water basins and fishing households shoveler has a little increased in number. Contains The growth of number of this kind is restrained by the absence of the shallow open reservoirs of steppe type, and also injurious activity by sulfur ravens. In view of small number in extraction of hunters shoveler meets seldom enough, despite of ease of extraction of this rather careless kind of wildfowl.
