Verhovka

Verhovka (Leuciscus delineatus) — species of fishes of family of the karpovy. Body moderately long, squeezed from sides.
In Belarus it is widespread everywhere, meets in the southern part of the basin of Dnepr, in a number of the closed lakes and in staritsa of the bottom Sozh and Pripyat, in boggy small rivers and small lakes of the basin of Berezina more often. Gets into pond farms. Lives in inundated reservoirs, gulfs of the rivers and other reservoirs with the slowed-down current. Conducts a day gregarious way of life. In the summer of pack keep at a water surface, falling by depth only in cold nights and during the bad weather periods. In separate small reservoirs can reach big number. In cultural fish-breeding farms is among weed fishes and is an undesirable component of ikhtiokompleks. It is used as a nozzle when catching predatory fishes. The sexual maturity comes on the second year of life. Spawning portion, begins in 2 half of May — June.
