Spinal Traction

Spinal Traction is constant or intermittent pulling force applied to the spine to gradually stretch the spine. Traction stretches muscles and ligaments and increases the space between the vertebrae. There are different types of spinal traction.

Underwater traction uses the positive effects of mild heat and natural buoyancy to gently stretch the spine. The ideal way to prepare for underwater traction is to let the muscles relax in warm water. Then the belts for the chest and hips are connected to the traction device. Traction is applied in accordance with medical indications. The rhythm of the patient’s breathing causes the body to sink and rise in the water, gently stretching the spine and relieving strain to the intervertebral discs.
